a little picture post

a little picture post from life lately.

there’s been a LOT of rain in dc. Jude has loved every second

we left sweet boy at home with the shugarts for the weekend (thank you guys SO much!) and made a trip down to Cedartown to visit Grandmamma.

We ate real southern food and played lots of hand and foot. Love my Cedartown family so, so much

Next, it was sweet husband’s 26th birthday!! Happy Birthday love!

We decided to give Toki Underground on H street a shot because we’ve been wanting to go for a while now. It’s a tiny little place with lots of hype and crazy long waits. Thankfully we only had to wait about 45 minutes (and could go nextdoor-ish to Smith Commons for drinks before) so it didn’t end up being too bad. The food was great and we had a blast. Toki Underground gets a thumbs up.

Next it was time for his favorite dessert (rum cakes), which apparently after last year, is a new tradition. (p.s. Kracken rum looks awesome, but sadly, I learned that Myers rum works much better in rum cake). Holy crazy strong cake. Definitely, just.eat.one.

The next day we did Fogo de Chao with the Shus + presents (they got him some killer new dress shoes and I got him his very first watch). He’s officially growed. :)

Then, I chopped off all my hair - this picture in the Madewell dressing room is all I’ve got to prove it for now. Apparently, I decide to get my hair cut on the most humid weekends of the year, every time. But, regardless of the crazy humidity, I am truly loving my long hair liberation. :)

Look out for a post about our “only-very-special-people-get-this-awesome-of-a-white house-tour” with the shus! Hello, Oval Office!

a new home post, about a month late

We’ve finally gotten things a little more settled at the new apartment, so I thought I’d share a few pictures. A few details first: it’s the upstairs apartment in a large house split into thirds. Think of a house split vertically down the middle, our friends have the right side upstairs and downstairs as one apartment, then we have the left side upstairs apartment, and another couple has the left side downstairs apartment. I think that was confusing, so I’ll move on… it’s only about 4 blocks from the metro and all the restaurants on Barracks Row (hello Ted’s Bulletin milkshakes!), it’s the same distance from the dog park as our old apartment, and we have windows!! Win, win, WIN. :)

Judebear LOVES his windows, especially because of his new proximity to tree squirrels.

So first things first, we have a private fenced in back yard/patio! This also happens to be our entrance to the house.

Now we go up the stairs, there’s a little skylight at the top the let’s in the light. Note the Ikea storage. Thank you Ikea. Also, this is my work area in the living room.

More views of the living room

                               “Dining Room” / Kitchenette

Bedroom! (the closet is behind the curtain…THE CLOSET!!!) :)

Also, note Jude’s bed. Yes, his duvet cover matches the blue and yellow color scheme.

But again, most importantly, the windows MAKE the house. See below. :)

                                       Thanks for visiting!!!
