Last night, we did this:

{cuddled while drinking coffee}
{cuddled while watching the new Jane Eyre and Jonathan studied}
{cuddled while watching the GA/FLA game and wished we could be there}

So long October…apparently you truly are, over.

There are so many things I could write about from the past few weeks, I’m not really sure how I should begin. First, I guess I’ll start with our trip out to Gaver Farms with the McNamaras. Andrea had the bug for pumpkins and apples and mountains and farms, so we went pumpkin hunting and Jude had the.time.of.his.life.

Sadly, the apple acre…was closed. Dang you false advertising!!

Our loot —> Jude was a little scared of the rolling pumpkins on the ride home, but other than that, it was a heck of a trip. :)
Also, it was my birthday last week. I got cake. (see below)

I also got a card a day (on the 10 days leading up to my birthday) hidden around the house, from my sweet husband - each day a reason he fell in love with me. Have I mentioned lately how amazing my husband is? Love him!
Also for my birthday I got 2 (count it, TWO) new babies in my life :) First, born on October 13th, 2011, sweet baby Caroline Grace Asher (Charlie for short). I cannot WAIT to meet this sweet little bundle!

Secondly, born here in D.C. on October 21, 2011, handsome Paden Anthony Shugart (mascot of 300 12th Street SE) :)

Here are a few photos from his special birthday :)

Fingers crossed he ends up being a ginger like his beautiful mamma!

Just to be clear, Jonathan was trying to portray Paden’s emotions at that moment…
Below is probably my favorite photo from the day…displaying the struggle of “the baby hand off.” No easy feat. Not to mention, look at those sweet baby footprints :)
October is the best birthday month ever. Couldn’t be more excited for the proud parents: Mike & Katie and Tammy & Ashley - y’all sure have some precious new ones :) Happy October everyone.
sometimes, it’s just exactly what everybody needed
Here’s a snapshot view of our weekend:

Annual pumpkin spice latte trip to the jefferson memorial: check

Jude found all the right sunny spots: check

Repeat of moments like this with my dear friend Andrea, however, I’m embarrassed to say, we took no pictures. check fail

Watched this movie and ate mini peanut butter cups and gummy bears for date-night. All, so good. triple check

After a failed attempt to see our friend run by in the Army 10 miler, we stopped for brunch at Le Bon Cafe by the Library of Congress. Real good. But, check negates check.

Inspected/cowered at some of the Halloween spirit budding about the neighborhood. I’d say more cowered than inspected… so, negative check

Got into the Fall/Halloween spirit and did some decorating of our own. 4 mini pumpkins and a loveable ghost? I’d say that’s a check x 5
I hope you had a happy weekend!
Today is the day I successfully conquered a made-from-scratch bread recipe. Laugh all you want - but typically, when I see ingredients such as yeast, I run as fast as possible. Recently, I made the decision that once a week I’m going to try out a new recipe from Pinterest. They don’t all have to be hard, just something I haven’t done before. So, here’s number one: pumpkin-pull-apart-bread with a brown sugar, butter rum frosting

It is fall after all. Ridiculously yummy and best eaten hot. SUCCESS!!
