Well my exit show is finally finished, graduation is 1 final and 1 test away, and the move to DC is officially happening by July 1st! I’m so pleased with how my exit work all came together and even more thankful for how many people came out to the show and supported me. It’s been so incredible getting to read all the things viewers wrote in my comments book…it was of such importance to me that people who didn’t have a personal connection to the story associated with my work could feel the emotions portrayed without that background. One of the most meaningful comments was from a student who said the only reason they went to the show was that they HAD to for an intro art class and that my work helped him deal with things he’s been trying to forget for some time now. THAT made dealing with the pain of reliving my emotions for my show’s subject matter this past year worth it. So here’s a big thank you to everyone who supported me through it——> THANK YOU. It’s been such a wonderfully difficult and fulfilling experience.
On another note: DC!!! Even though it’s been a little stressful and scary trying to figure everything out for the move-it’s more exciting than anything else! I can’t wait to get to explore the city and find my favorite places to people watch, read, photograph, and just sit and watch the city go by. I’ve lived in and around Athens GA practically my whole life—and I desperately love it here—but it’s so time for a change. I love that it will always be the place I come home to to visit. We go the end of May to look for a place to live and I can’t wait! The only downside….the 11 hour drive there and back :/ yeesh. Jonathan and I will have LOTS and LOTS of bonding time. It is going to be wonderful to be there when it’s sunny and nice and full of cherry blossoms (hopefully we won’t have missed it) instead of freakish blizzard weather like when we first visited!Â

anyway—here’s to change. I cannot WAIT.
