so i could have spent my saturday moping around, painting my toenails and watching bad television (well ok, i might have done a little of that), but instead of succumbing to what would have easily turned into a rotten saturday, i made myself get out and explore my city a little. i went out and found a legit place to get my rolls of film developed (until i decide which darkroom in the city i’m going to use to develop my own) and buy darkroom supplies. I have these two really old rolls of film my mom found in the attic with “Stephen D. Floyd 2009 Scott Avenue Charlotte NC 28203” and I’m dying to know what’s on them. I was born in Charlotte NC and that’s where my dad did his residency. Sadly though when I got to the photo place dt they didn’t have the right chemicals to develop this particular kind of roll. They gave me the name of another shop in Georgetown that I’m going to call tomorrow but I’m concerned that it’s going to be a discontinued combination of chemicals…. :/ Looks like i’m in for some tedious internet research! Either way though I’m thrilled to have found a photography resource in the city.

After wandering through the photo supplies dreaming of when I could check out their large format toyo 4x5 camera (they rent camera equipment here too!), I drove on over to Eastern Market and bought four farmers gold apples and a bouquet of flowers. And yes I did have an incredibly difficult time saying no once again to the strawberry shortcake cupcake and the apple butter loaf bread they have for sale there that taunts me every weekend.

in the end Jonathan and I did get to spend some time together tonight and went to see movie. it’s all an adjustment but i think it’s going to be just fine ;)
maybe tomorrow i’ll make use of all the free contemporary art that’s available to me at The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden!
